Remembering

I don’t have much to say this week; I am in a downward spiral at the moment, this is stemming from the loss of the last of our elderly cats.

We lost our first “elderly girl” in September, just before my birthday and our trip away; it seemed strange when it happened and we lived in a bubble until we got home and had to deal with the fact that Jessica was really gone from our home and our lives.

We miss her and she will always have a place in our hearts; she was survived by her companion Cassie and two other cats, but Cassie was not well herself and so health issues began to cropping up and her moods changed along with her eating habits. We tried to rejuvenate everyone by adopting two kittens a black male named Alex and a grey female named Mai. When they entered our lives Cassie took them under her wing and treated them like they were her kittens and everything seemed to be picking up, but it was not to last long.

Cassie passed Friday, our vet said there was nothing that he could do for her and with her near eighteen years of life she had lived well but it was time to think of her comfort and not make her suffer needlessly.

We both agreed, a decision that was hard to make but one we knew was right. We have the memories and still to us it is all just a dream and we wait for her to call us to bed or to come up and try to nick stuff away from us when we go out and eat some KFC which was her favourite or to try and get the bacon from our double bacon and egg McMuffin meals.

My readers, I suppose what I want to say is that pets no matter what they are have an impact on our lives; from the smallest to the largest each has earned a place in our heart and when they are not with us we remember them just as they were.

I won’t be posting on the 2nd of November, but it is Día de los Muertos; if you are inclined perhaps you will celebrate with your family those who have passed by offering prayers and gathering together as a family.

Just a thought there… Be safe readers and until we meet again take care.

What a world.

“What a world we live in”; it is a phrase I can remember hearing from a young age but it is true, we live in a world where the bounds of humanity are stretched from every angle one can imagine.

Take the first example of the Chilean miners; sixty nine days living half a mile beneath the earth with just thirty-three men keeping you company while on top the families, families and anyone else attached to these brave men who carried on through the ordeal were in the early days without news as to what had happened and if their loved ones were still alive.

I can honestly say I don’t know what I would do if I were in their shoes; before anyone says something, yes prayer would be my port of call. I suppose they may have all been doing that all along but that does not stop our mind and body from reacting to situations we find ourselves in.

We all know the outcome of this story and situation; we are grateful that they are all alive and well after they were rescued from their underground dwelling due to the fantastic efforts from those rescuers who worked on the plans try and reach them.

The next example regards a young child being allowed to run rampant on the interwebs; I am not going to name names as the situation is still on going with this child, but needless to say the parents seemed clueless as to what was going on; sure it is possible sometimes for certain things to pass under the wire, but what happened cannot be dismissed with a simple wave of the hand.

I could not believe the tirade of profanity, threats of violence and worst of it is that this child knew enough to say they hoped people would “get aids and die”; I was dumb struck by that statement.

When it finally came to light the parents acted in a matter that was too little too late, sure some might say “at least the acted”; while that might be true, but this type of situation could have been prevented with just a little common sense and monitoring.

The child in question is now receiving counselling for what they have done, not sure what the parents consequences are but I would hope child services were involved and that if they had any more children that they should all be monitored to make sure a situation like the one they are living through is not repeated again.

Thank goodness there is grace in this world to cover us when we find ourselves needing it most.

I know the stories I covered today are actually coming from two extremes, but I wanted to show that we do indeed live in a diverse world.

Maybe next time we can talk about kittens... haha

Take care readers.

In with the new and away with the old.

As the title says it is time for a new birth of this blog; I have done away with notes and now am beginning with a new set of dispatches from the front of the great English Muffin resistance…

I know some of my English friends will be saying “What?!, has he gone mad?” , but for the Americans amongst us they know what I am talking about when I speak of English Muffins.

White Muffins in England (most likely the entirety of the United Kingdom) are what the Americans call ‘English Muffins’; that was to clear any confusion between all of us and it should now put us on the same page as each other one would hope.

I suppose the next question on your lips is what is with this ‘resistance’ well we resist nothing, but we do sit in a unique position being able to see two political systems at work and to hear news pouring in from almost every corner of the world; this is not a position most people are able to see and look at sometimes with a morbid curiosity. Speaking as one of those people who are able to see events unfold from the outside of their home country it puts a few things into perspective, it also teaches not to take certain things for granted.

Our freedoms and rights is something that we should look at, hold to and try not to abuse; our societies may not be perfect, heck they aren’t and we know it but we take for granted we have them. It is a shame that we do so as we can look at other places in the world that do not have the same rights and freedoms as we do and what do we do… we just stare and say “sucks to be them”, well that is not the type of response that those images should illicit from us. The images of oppression and tyrannical laws that are being enforced upon those who lack the same rights and freedoms as we have should stir us to act. Now I am not naive there are those who know only this type of life and do not complain as it is all they know; to them I would say you can do better and deserve more, but I respect you and the way you wish to live. What we need to remember again is that we do not always have the answers to the world’s problems within our societies as what might work for us is not what will work for others in this crazy world.

“What can I do then?” I hear you say. There are many options open to us in our societies, ones that are legal and do make a difference no matter what others might think; what should matter is what you think will work and that alone. In regards to what you can do to bring attention to some of these issues that affect people who are being unfairly treated; write you member of parliament or congressman, its their job to listen to you and act on your behalf they represent you in the government and if they are worth their job they will listen and assist you; join an activist group, Green Peace and Amnesty International are two groups I can think of that are worth while in working towards the human rights movement and for we Christian we have our power of prayer, something given to us as we can intercede in prayer for those who are in need.

Well it is time I think to conclude this; it has gone longer and more in-depth than I had originally intended. I promise to try and keep this Blog updated once daily or maybe twice a week, not quite sure yet as I am planning a Vlog as well which I hope to be a companion to this Blog.

Take Care readers and I will speak with you again soon.
